Don’t Let Your Habits Hold You Back

Win the market with our Do It N.O.W. campaign. This turn-key, marketing campaign will help you find and secure listings for the changing 2024 real estate market. Avoid the chaos and serve the listing every time. Outperform the competition and build long-term business.

People get into real estate for many reasons, but one of the most common ones is freedom—they want to be their own boss. The downside of this freedom is that you have to be your own boss; that is, you have to adopt the habits and structure that boost your productivity and lead to success. Here are a few tips to follow, whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting into the business.

1. Show up. Woody Allen once said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.” You can’t succeed unless you show up to work each day. But that’s only part of the story. Once you’re there, you have to push yourself so you can reach your full potential and become accountable to your goals. You plan your business using logic and experience and you drive it emotionally.

2. Focus on what you’re building. When you’re building a business, it’s easy to get distracted along the way. Oh, you need to have this new technology or invest your time and money in this new fad. But if you have the courage of your vision, faith in your business and skills and resilience to succeed, you can focus on the important tasks at hand that truly build your business. Focus on building relationships with your best clients and ask them for referrals—that’s how you build a strong referral-based business. Sure, technology makes things easier, but the foundation of your business is the relationships you build with your database. It’s that simple.

3. Understand the nature of the industry. Real estate has its own energy, rhythm and seasonality. Your energy as an agent will draw people to you. We all want to work with people we like and respect. If you come from a place of service and share your knowledge with your clients, they’ll want to work with you and will refer you to their family and friends, if asked. Similarly, the market has a rhythm. Like a pendulum it swings; sometimes it’s a buyers’ market, other times sellers have the advantage, and other times it’s balanced. When you understand the rhythm, you’re able to guide your clients through the real estate process to get them the best deal for their needs. Finally, there’s a seasonality of your customers. In many markets, buyers come out of the woodwork in the spring and summer, eager to find the home of their dreams. In other markets, it stays steady all year. Knowing the seasonality of your customer will help you serve them better.

4. Use the right tools. In order to get the job done, you have to have the right tools. Referral Maker® CRM was developed for real estate professionals who work by referral and offers the management, tracking and marketing tools required to succeed in the business. It’ll help you manage your time and schedule, track your activities and progress toward reaching your goals and manage your marketing items. Doing all three will help you take control of your business and your success.

5. Join the Blitz. Although the first Blitz of 2017 is winding down, you have time to sign up for the second round this summer. We created the Blitz to help agents generate a large number of leads in a short, concentrated amount of time based on the rest-run cycle. Many agents have the mindset of a marathoner: they work and work for a long period of time without taking a break. Instead of leading to success, it leads them to burnout. With the Blitz, we teach agents to adopt the mindset of a sprinter: work hard for a burst of time and then take a rest. Now, taking a rest doesn’t mean you stop working. Instead, you serve your clients and the referrals you generated during the Blitz. You’ll have more energy and will work more efficiently as well.
