Ep #304: Have No Fear
Everyone experiences fear in life, but it’s meant to be a passing emotion of fight or flight, not a constant state of high anxiety. In today’s world, with so many people more fearful than ever before, it’s important to remember that fear isn’t a bad thing as long as you don’t let it control or paralyze you. Here’s how you can manage your fears so that you ultimately grow and achieve:
When you’re in a state of fear, everything is distorted. You feel out of control and unable to regulate your emotions. You can also feel like a deer frozen in the headlights, stuck and incapable of making rational decisions. Unfortunately, fear is contagious and it spreads very easily – if others are fearful, you can quickly start to feel scared and anxious, too. To get around your fears and move forward, you have to remember to chart your own course, not run with the crowd. You must gain control, face what’s making you afraid and get past it. As Jack Canfield once said, “Everything you want is on the other side of fear.”
Fear is Normal
Fear is a natural human emotion and you need some of it to operate to the best of your ability. Sometimes, you just have to accept that feeling scared is a part of life! The good news is that you can use fear as a spark – a positive force to motivate you to achieve your goals with courage and confidence. As Zig Ziglar once said, “Fear has two meanings. Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours.”
To face your fears and find freedom, you need to tap into the rational part of your brain.
It’s pointless to worry about things that might never happen! Instead, feel the fear and do it anyway. As Dale Carnegie once said, “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it. That is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.” Courage doesn’t mean you never experience fear – it means you work to conquer your fears and, if you falter, you try again another day.
Love and fear cannot exist at the same time. When you feel afraid, you must focus on who you love, what you love and who you’re loved by. Do this and you will take charge of your fear and grow.
