Sustain Your Most Precious Resource: Your Energy

Win the market with our Do It N.O.W. campaign. This turn-key, marketing campaign will help you find and secure listings for the changing 2024 real estate market. Avoid the chaos and serve the listing every time. Outperform the competition and build long-term business.

How would you rate your energy in your business and life: are you feeling empty or is your tank half full or three-quarters full? In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel drained of energy. The most common energy drains include fear and worry and drama. Worry is the interest you pay on the debt you don’t owe. Many of us become consumed with worry, specifically about the future; we want to control what happens and since we can’t, we dwell on what may happen instead. Add to the equation an addiction to drama—both in our lives and on television—and you have a perfect recipe for energy drain. You can’t offer your best to your clients and the people in your life if you’ve depleted your energy reserves on things that don’t truly matter.

Look for ways to refill your energy reserves

What gives us energy? It should come as no surprise our connections and what we put in our heads play a role in filling us with energy. My mother used to say, “show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.” Think about your relationships—are there people in your circle who make you feel as if you’re bursting with energy whenever you speak with them? Similarly, are there people in your life who make you feel drained? Try to spend more time with the people who fill you with energy, especially when you need an energy boost.

Reading is the highest form of energy replenishment. As we read the words on the page, we interact with the content and think about what it means, how it makes us feel and more. To be at your best, you need time to process and think. My mentor Zig Ziglar said, “Your input determines your outlook, your outlook determines your output and your output determines your future.” Read, watch and listen to positive content that encourages you to think, grow and learn and make it a priority. Too often we put off taking care of ourselves. However, taking care of yourself helps you take care of other people in your business and personal life. Take the time to read and grow professionally and take time to do other things that fill you with energy, such as working out or yoga.

Keep your energy levels high

Once you’ve filled your energy tank, make sure it remains full. One way to sustain your energy is to track your progress toward your goals. Tracking programs, such as Referral Maker® CRM, make it easy to track your activities so you always know how close you are to your goals. Referral Maker CRM also lets you know when you’re winning the day and winning the week. This helps you maintain perspective and offers motivation when you need it the most.

A second way to refresh your spirit and keep your energy high is to take a break. It sounds simple, but you’d be surprised how many people work and work and work and then wonder why they’re not getting as much done as they’d like. Breaks allow us to rest and restore our energy so we can be more productive.
