Spring Fever, Summer Fun, and Waning Motivation: 3 Tips to Maintain Focus this Season

Win the market with our Do It N.O.W. campaign. This turn-key, marketing campaign will help you find and secure listings for the changing 2024 real estate market. Avoid the chaos and serve the listing every time. Outperform the competition and build long-term business.

This can be a beautiful but dangerous season when it comes to leading a real estate office or team. Why? Two scenarios come to mind…

The ground just thawed in some regions (you know who you are) and spring fever has people out and about.  Buyers are looking, listings are at a premium, and multiple offers abound.  In short the market is hot.  It’s survival of the fittest out there!   Your agents are too busy to do the things you and they know they need to do to generate a steady stream of leads that will flow into the fall and winter months.

Or, as the school year comes to an end, there are celebrations, vacations, and the normal routine is interrupted.  We sink into a summer siesta instead of doing any lead generating activities.  What is a leader to do?  Take a nap yourself?  Well, yes once in a while lying under a tree on a breezy sunny afternoon is just what this time of year calls for, but we all know you can’t rest too long.

In order to ensure your office has a strong last half of the year, it is crucial for you to stay on track throughout the dog days of summer and help your agents do the same.

Here are 3 tips to motivate your agents, your team and yourself this season:

Don’t miss summer, embrace it to the fullest!

The best way to do this is by sitting down with your calendar and schedule play time and pay time.  Carve out all the long weekends, BBQ’s and vacations with family and friends, or your golf game FIRST.  These important activities will energize you and give you great things to look forward to.  Then, go back and schedule the days you will be working and the activities you’ll focus on to create momentum for your business.

Throw down a summer challenge with weekly rewards for activities completed.

Get everyone onboard to commit to a certain number of proactive business building action steps, whether it’s recruiting, adding people to the database or touching base with great people you already have and set small rewards for each week you are successful.  The promise of a day of fishing or a few hours at the spa could entice you to stay the course.

Make connecting and networking fun!

Plan an event like an agent BBQ/picnic or a movie night under the stars where you invite your recruits, your agents and their families and let them  invite 5 of their A+ clients to deepen relationships and provide value.  THAT is a high powered gathering.

I encourage you to seize the spring and summer months for all they’re worth and champion your people to do the same.  This will lead to a rested, rejuvenated and productive tribe willing and able to continue the pursuit of a rockin’ business and a good life.  Make the commitment to gather your team together on a conference call or at a meeting in the near future to launch your strategy to win!

Please feel free to share your tips on how to stay motivated and engaged in this season.
