When the Going Gets Tough

In today’s challenging world, you need to be mentally tough to succeed. Being mentally tough doesn’t mean that you have to be tough at heart. You can still be gracious, empathetic and loving but, if you want to really thrive in your business and your life, you have to have mental toughness too.

Here’s how you can develop the kind of mental toughness that will impact and improve every aspect of your life, set you apart from your competition and help you to live the good life:

Never Give Up

The Navy SEALs are famous for their ‘never give up’ mindset. They never quit, they thrive in adversity and, if they get knocked down, they get back up every time. Cultivating a similarly resilient mindset will go a long way to developing your mental toughness.

Be the Best of the Best

The people we coach and train here at Buffini & Company are like the Navy SEALs of the real estate industry. They’re trained specialists who always keep their skills sharp so they can be top of their game and serve at the highest level. Just like the SEALs, they are the best of the best. As Brian Tracy says, “The future belongs to the competent. Get good, get better, be the best!”

Get Training

A SEAL mantra is that, when you’re under pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training, so train well.  What level of training are you taking? A great place to start is 100 Days to Greatness. When you’re training, you’re learning, growing and developing the kind of mental toughness that will help you to overcome the obstacles that you’ll undoubtedly encounter on the road to success.

Practice Gratitude

Gratitude improves every situation. It can be tough to be grateful in an ungrateful world, but it’s always worth it because, when you’re full of gratitude, you eliminate entitlement, one of the real negatives of today’s culture. As Zig Ziglar said, “Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.”

Get Perspective

As an immigrant, I’m hugely grateful for the phenomenal opportunities this great country has afforded me. I always remember where I came from, but that doesn’t mean that I have to stay stuck there either. If you want to get a little perspective, ask yourself: If your ancestors came to America today and were given your opportunities and resources, what would they do with them?

Have a Made-up Mind

My mother always told me that I could do anything, but I had to have my mind made up about it. A person whose mind is made up is an unstoppable force of nature in this world. What do you need to make up your mind about today?

Mental toughness is a core characteristic for the mindset, motivation and methodologies of success. To learn more, listen to the latest episode of “The Brian Buffini Show.
